NCIS Season 9 : EW has learned exclusively that Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin is set to appear alongside already announced guest star Jamie Lee Curtis in an upcoming episode of NCIS, scheduled to air in late March. Astin will, like Curtis, play a psychological operations investigator.
“I’ve been a big fan of Sean’s for years and this is a part we literally tailored for him,” says executive producer Gary Glasberg. “We couldn’t be happier to have Sean join us. Jamie’s character, Doctor Ryan, oversees a team of brilliant PsyOps agents and Sean will prove to be her go-to operative. We can’t wait to throw him into the mix, watch it develop, and have some fun.”
If you’re one of the NCIS fans whose ‘shipper heart has been aflutter since that scene between Tony and Ziva this week, you might want to hold on to something: The CBS procedural has cast Entourage star Perrey Reeves to play Wendy, the former fiancée of Michael Weatherly’s Tony DiNozzo, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
As we previously reported, Wendy is a quick-witted investigative journalist who’ll go to whatever lengths necessary to get her story. But when she bulldozes her way into an NCIS investigation, she’s soon reunited with Tony and must relive the emotions of their shared past. Reeves’ potentially recurring role launches — fittingly enough — on Valentine’s Day.
Tony’s former engagement was first revealed in last season’s “Baltimore,” a flashback-heavy origin story that featured DiNozzo telling his partner that he had proposed to Wendy, a rare sign of commitment from the relationship-challenged Tony.
“Wendy has been mentioned many times over the last couple of years, and now we’ll finally get to meet her,” executive producer Gary Glasberg tells TVGuide.com. “Wendy needed to possess all the qualities Tony would look for in a woman and then some. … We hit the jackpot: Perrey has just the right combination of sass, wit, intelligence and pathos to bring ‘Baltimore Wendy’ to life. Everyone at NCIS is thrilled she’s joining us.”
The casting news comes days after Tony’s latest flame (Sarah Jane Morris’ E.J. Barrett) appeared to be sent packing for good, leaving Tony and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) to reflect on their respective dating woes in one of this season’s most romantically tense scenes. It was unfortunately interrupted by a phone call from Ziva’s CIA boyfriend Ray (Enrique Murciano), who returns in the next episode. Between that and Wendy’s appearance, it seems Tony and Ziva’s slow-burn relationship may not be speeding up anytime soon.
Besides her role as Mrs. Ari on Entourage, Reeves has made recent guest-star appearances on such shows as Grey’s Anatomy, Castle, Private Practice, and Hawaii Five-0.
NCIS airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS. Reeves’ episode is slated to air Feb. 14.

Prepare to bid goodbye to one of main characters on “NCIS: Los Angeles” in the next few weeks. Executive producer Shane Brennan has spilled the beans that in episode 10 of season 3, Hetty will axe one member of her team after an assignment gone wrong.
“Hetty drags out the dreadful chopping block, sharpens the blade, and she takes off Deeks’ head – figuratively,” Brennan jokingly says, before confirming that it is [SPOILER ALERT!] Marty Deeks who will leave the Office of Special Projects Team as saying, “Yes, Deeks is fired.”
On why Deeks has to get through this unpleasant storyline, the show’s creator explains, “As you’ll see in the teaser of this episode, he screws up royally.” He continues telling TVLine, “Hetty has no choice but to fire him. She has absolutely no choice.”
Brennan goes on dishing that “the ramifications [of Deeks' firing] will be felt, especially with the Deeks-Kensi relationship.” He adds, “Kensi (Daniela Ruah) takes it badly on a couple of levels,” before teasing, “Kensi gives Deeks a little lip… It is one not to be missed for the Kensi-Deeks fans.”
Despite the farewell moment, Brennan says the upcoming episode, which airs on November 22, will still feature some humor. “It’s a really powerful episode with this great ‘What the hell has happened?!’ aspect to it,” he gushes. “But at the same time, it’s got comedy and lots of twists and turns.”
The said outing will additionally find Deeks “quite literally and figuratively out on a ledge, at a high-rise.” Brennan continues claiming that Eric Christian Olsen, who plays Deeks, “is just loving this episode – though I don’t think the fans will like it much! And yet they will.”
Deeks accepted the position of NCIS / LAPD Liaison Officer toward the end of season 1. After being dumped from NCIS, he will likely return as an LAPD detective.
