Archive for Guest Star
A pair of familiar faces will cross paths with Gibbs & Co. as CBS’ popular ‘NCIS‘ winds down its seventh season.
For starters, Richard Burgi (aka ‘Desperate Housewives‘ dearly departed Karl) will guest-star in the episode airing May 18 and titled “Patriot Down,” Fancast has learned exclusively. Burgi, who wears the hell out of a fine-tailored suit in many a role, will play the well-to-do father of the prime suspect in an NCIS investigation.
Previously, Fancast scooped that Burgi will also be guesting on ‘Lie to Me’ when the Fox series resumes it season on June 7.
That same May 18th episode will introduce ‘Numb3rs‘ star Dylan Bruno as Lt. Jason Paul Dean, a freelance mercenary with ties to Col. Bell (Robert Patrick).
Dean, who is described by TVGuide.com as a highly decorated yet dishonorably discharged Army Ranger, will stick around for the May 25 season finale, in which it has been reported Gibbs will need to make a life-changing decision that will impact every member of his team.
We reported previously that three-time Emmy winner Gena Rowlands was cast to bring hell to Gibbs
(Mark Harmon) on NCIS
as one of his mothers-in-law. Rowlands is set to play “upscale” Joanna, who will bring not-so-pleasant memories to Gibbs’ very colorful love life sometime in March.
TV Guide reports that soap star Leann Hunley will piggyback on Rowlands’ role, as the Days of our Lives star was cast to play young Joanna in flashback set in the 1980s. Both will reportedly appear on NCIS‘ March 2 episode that will also – get this – feature Harmon’s own son Sean, playing a younger version of Gibbs.
The March 2 episode will shed light on why there is all these animosity between the two.
“You will see that Joann is very angry at Gibbs for taking her daughter and grandchild away from her when his job is relocated,” says Hunley, adding that the move even led to the murder of Gibbs’ family by a Mexican drug dealer.
Hunley, 54, adds that the NCIS guest spot is a dream role for her, adding that she often saw herself as “Rowlands type.”
”When I first saw her in the ’70s in A Woman Under the Influence, I thought, ‘That woman looks like me! She has my eyes!’” she says. “Ever since, it’s been my secret wish that I might play her some day. But, seriously, what were the chances?”
As previously announced, Robert Wagner will guest star on
the 150th episode of NCIS in the critical role of Tony’s dad.
But he isn’t the only big name coming to TV’s top-rated show for that special edition. Penny Johnson Jerald will reprise her role as tate Department Official Joanne Torrence on the January 12 installment of the drama, titled “Flesh and Bone.”
The actress is best known for her role as Sherry Palmer on multiple seasons of 24.
During this landmark episode, the NCIS team investigates attempted assassination of a foreign prince. Without giving too much away, we can confirm that Tony’s father is linked to the case.
Says Rocky Carroll (Director Vance): “You find out that there’s a strained relationship between the two.”
TV’s top-rated show will ring in the holidays with a guest star-filled episode on December 15.
Ralph Waite will return on that date as Gibbs’s father, while TV Guide Magazine reports a
pair of other semi-big names have signed on for roles on the NCIS installment titled “Faith.”
Corey Reynolds (The Closer’s Sgt. David Gabriel, pictured) will play a naval chaplain that assists the team with its investigation.
Meanwhile, Joe Regalbuto (best known as Frank Fontana on Murphy Brown) will play a reverend whose son turns up dead.
On other casting news, Robert Wagner will show up as Tony’s father on NCIS‘ 150th episode.
